OTT Streaming Delivery

The delivery boundary

The delivery system prepares a set of encoded media segments and a manifest that points to them. The player reads that manifest, chooses a representation, and requests segments over HTTP. This division lets ordinary web servers and CDNs distribute media while the player adapts to changing network conditions.

The key backend constraint is consistency: the manifest must describe segments that are actually available. A missing segment or incorrect timeline can stop playback even when the manifest itself loads successfully.

For the client side of this exchange, see Player Intro.
